It had been over a year since ice cream had last been served at Florean Fortuescue's. It was rather sad too seeing as this used to be one of the busiest shops in Diagon Alley. Rose Weasley herself could remember getting icecream from this parlor as a child. It was mostly sad though because there was no longer a way to beat the heat by getting an icecream while out shopping. That is, unfortunatly, exactly what Miss Weasley wanted to do at that point.
It was not hard at all to imagine the cone full of icecream sitting infront of you. She could almost smell the scent or fresh baked cones mixed with the various flavours of icecream. The sounds of children giggling as icecream dribbled down their face. And then the parents running after their child telling them to sit down and finish their treat before running around. Yes, this truly was a sad thing, no more Fortescue's.
A soft sigh escaped the girl's lips. She had long since closed the book that she had been reading, and the soft breeze was now playing with the pages. Things had changed so much since childhood. Or, maybe it was just Rose growing up and forgetting to be childish sometimes. Either way, things were different. Stories had been told by her parents and other family members about the 'great war' that they participated in, and they were only her age at the time. It was rather saddening, they were forced to grow up just at the age where you struggle with it. Another sigh escapped her lips as she lifted her eyes off the dancing pages to look around at Diagon Alley, half hoping for someone to take her from her mind.

Normally on a Tuesday afternoon there was never anything exciting going on; especially in the summer. Usually Roxanne spent the weekdays at her house trying to find something to do to occupy herself for the day. Roxanne was lucky enough not to have a boring place to live. Her family was always up for doing something whether that be playing a game of quidditch or swimming in the lake near their house. Roxanne's home was far from boring and what made it even better was that she was never left alone. Roxanne Weasley had a brother who was a year older than her and they were practically attached at the hip, where one was the other was sure to follow...excect for today.
Roxanne had been craving an outing and not the usual ones that she took to another family members' house. Those trips were always fun but she wanted to go out away from the usual. Although Diagon Alley could hardly be considered an unusual place for the simple fact that she came here quite a lot seeing as her parents owned Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes but it was still a different scene then her home or one of her many cousin's houses. Fred and Roxanne had been planning to come to Diagon Alley since last week, now that they were old enough to go on their own, the idea of the trip always seemed more entertaining. But at the last minute Fred became ill and had to stay home. Roxanne wanted to stay home by her brother's side but he kept insisting that she go without him. So after many hours of his prodding Roxanne reluctantly left him behind.
Roxanne had arrived around noon and the sun was high in the sky looming over the entire alley. The heat was insane but it was expected seeing as it was August. Sweat dripped down her forehead as she continued the walk down the long alley just glancing around. If Roxanne was lucky she would see someone she knew from school. But the chances were low because it was still too early to see anyone shopping for school supplies and Diagon Alley was usually occupied by adults more than children. But of course Roxanne knew many of the adults around this area since she spent much of her childhood around here.
A flash of red hair caught Roxanne's attention as a slight breeze blew cooling her off as she looked around. Roxanne smiled when she realized that the red hair belonged to her cousin Rose. Roxanne loved being a Weasley because it was so easy to find her family because most had flaming red hair and not many other wizarding families had that trait. Although not everyone in the Weasley family had red hair. Roxanne and Fred were spared the red hair due to their mother's blood and a few other cousin's had dark or lighter hair.
Roxanne walked over to her cousin. She was standing in front of the Ice Cream Parlor which had shut down over a year ago. No one really knew why it was closed but she knew many hoped it would open soon especially on these hot days. An ice cream cone would surely hit the spot. "Rose!" She called as she was walking over. "What are you doing here?"
She asked curiously. Roxanne noted the book in Rose's hand and smile slightly. Apparently Rose was a lot like her mother for her aunt Hermione always had her nose in the book while in school. Actually Roxanne was sure it was still the same now. [/blockquote][/blockquote] ATTENTION -- rose nicole weasley WORDS -- five hundred and ninety nine NOTES -- woot! first thread! It was not too hard to drift in and out of day dreams. Maybe it was the heat and she was just hallucinating, though that was seriously doubtful. Normally hallucinations only occur when one had been away from civilization, without food or water for some time. Seeing as Rose was neither away from civilization, or without food and water, it must just be a day dream...right? Right.
Her hazel eyes fell to the pages of her book, a small smile forming on her lips. Her father always teased her about being so much like her mother. Nose in the books all the time. Although, Rose was also alot like her father. The best part about being like her father, was the Quidditch. Rose loved Quidditch so much. What would she ever do if her fear of heights got out to the general public? Would her cousins tease her, would she get booted off the team? No, probably not, she didn't show any fear when on a broom. Her father had, after all, practically raised her on a broom.
The smile on her lips grew a slight bit. Thinking about brooms and Quidditch made her think about her many cousins. There were so many Weasley's running around these days that they could probably fill two teams! Well, technically the cousins were one member short, but not all of them played anyways. Boy was it a good thing that a fair chunk of their parents enjoyed the game too.
Her day dreaming turned to playing a game of Quidditch, and Rose questioned herself why she was making herself depressed over a closed ice cream shop when she could go home, rally up some of her many cousins, and play some Quidditch. Oh, thats right, because they did that most days! Rose gave her head a small shake, her hair swaying slightly with each turn.
It was at that moment that the girl heard an all too familiar voice. Rose lifted her eyes once more from the pages of her book, and scanned the surrounding area for the location of said voice. Soon enough her eyes landed on the form of her cousin Roxanne. Rose raised one eyebrow, her eyes scanning around a little bit more for the cousin that is normally attatched to this female cousin's hip. Rose, however, did not see said cousin, which was surprising.
Her eyes fell once again onto Roxy "Hey Roxy, no Fred?" She questioned, wondering if her was maybe hding in the shadows waiting to jump out and attempt scaring her. Her eyes once again trailed around, this time looking closer in the shadows, trying to see if there was any oddly shaped shadows about.
Seeing none Rose turned her attention back to Roxy, her brain registering that there was a question attached to Roxy's first statement of hello. The girl gave a half shrug to her cousin "Guess just looking for something different." She said. Then Rose decded to expand a little on her answer "Although, I keep getting lost in day dreams today. Thankfully I am here and not with the family, I may be getting nailed in the face with a bludger with my attention span today." She smiled slightly, knowing just how painful her day could have been if she had not chosen to come to Diagon Alley.

Roxanne should have expect that her brother's absence would be the first thing noticed as it probably was whenever she was not with him. It being voice aloud made a small ache in her chest appear but she smiled at her cousin Rose anyways. "Nope sadly my poor other half is sick today. He had to literally force me out of the house before I would leave without him." Roxanne laughed lightly. Sometimes it crossed Roxanne's mind what people thought about how close Fred and her were. Did they take things they said offensively or did they just understand they had a close bond. Was their bond strange? If so no one had ever spoken up about it but sometimes Roxanne could feel them staring or hear them whispearing which only upset her more.
Shaking those thoughts away she listened to Rose talk for a moment about how she kept day dreaming today. Roxanne was never really good at day dreaming she always wanted to live in the moment so day dreaming would always bore her. Why day dream if you could go out and do something? She just didn't understand the concept of it. "What were you day dreaming about?"
Roxanne asked mildly curious. "Ah, yes. It is quite impossible to day dream while flying on a broom at 70 mph and trying to duck and dodge anything that means harm. You possibly could of been killed if we all got together and played a match." Roxanne stated with an amused grin on her face. She could just picture her dear ol' cousin sitting in the middle of the match, motionless on her broom day dreaming as a bludger whisps by her ear and she wouldn't even budge. Rose frowned a little bit when Roxanne mentioned that Fred was sick. Rose always felt bad when her own brother was sick, and she wasn't nearly as close to Hugo as Roxy was to Fred. However, Roxy saying that Fred had to force her out of the hosue brought a smile to her face. "What are you going to do next year when Fred has graduated from school? I swear I am going to have to drag you around by a rope to classes." She shook her head at the thought. Having grown up with Roxy and Fred being attached at the hip, it wasn't really all that strange to her anymore. She did quite often wonder how either one of her cousin's could have a relationship with someone else while always with each other, but that was a different matter.
As attention was turned back to Rose herself she shrugged a little again. "Originally I was thinking about all the icecream we used to eat here." A soft smile formed on her lips, being taken back once more to childhood "I can almost smell the waffle cones being baked fresh for us." Her smile turned into a small frown as reality set back in, and the truth of the present day hit once more. "Then I kinda pictured myself getting smacked in the head, that one wasn't so pleasent to witness. Kinda painful too."
She laughed at what her cousin then said about how impossible it would be to day dream on a broomstick. Rose shook her head. "Its not impossible, just not very intelligent while playing quidditch." Rose then beamed "Well, its not smart at any time while on a broom, but not impossible, thats for sure." Rose decided to turn the focus away from day dreaming at that point though. "So, what have you got planned for your day here? Not helping out in the shop are you?"
